Bio
Jose Alvarez is a senior at McAllen High School, class of 2024. He is also dual enrolled at South Texas College where he has maintained a 4.0 GPA and will graduate with an Associate’s Degree. Throughout his time in high school, Jose has been involved in many extracurricular activities. Outside of school, Jose won the Texas Youth of the Year Award from Boys & Girls Club of America where he represented over 345,000 kids and advocated for mental health and equality. Throughout his Junior and Senior Year, Jose led a group of teens to Washington, D.C. where they presented their research about loneliness to House Congressmen, Senators, and the Office of the Surgeon General of the United States.
In school, Jose is the Historian for the National Honor Society where he oversees documenting the history of the school chapter. He is also the Secretary for his school’s Business Professionals of America club where he competed regionally, won 1st place, and was a state qualifier. In his Junior year, Jose was accepted into the QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program where they equip high-achieving high school juniors from low-income backgrounds with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to apply to top colleges and universities.
Jose plans to attend a 4 year-university and apply to law school after to fulfill his dream of being an attorney.
In his free time, Jose enjoys spending time with family and friends.
